If Only You Knew How Easy It Was…

On my way to the gym this morning, I ran into my downstairs neighbor, sweaty, exhilarated and energized from his just completed workout. I was so happy to see him bounding home, this guy, who in the last year or so, literally has dropped half his body weight. We chatted for a minute on how he did it, which I’ll tell you about in a bit. But his last comment, which I loved, was “If only I’d known how easy it is!”
Prior to his weight loss and newfound zest, my neighbor (I’ll call him Gary) was not someone I suspect regularly saw the inside of a gym. Neither was he a person who paid attention, I’m assuming, to what he was consuming on a regular basis. He’s a big time executive in the media space, so I also suspect there were a lot of business expensed lunches and dinners quite literally under his belt. But he turned it all around. Formerly a jocular fellow with lovely energy, Gary is now strong and slim. He’s had to overhaul his wardrobe, so nattily exits our building with his new style, attitude and health every morning. How?
“I kicked out the bad stuff, am taking in the good stuff and I’m exercising. And you know what? It’s fun! I feel so good!” Lovely energy has turned into spectacular energy.
Susan often talks about how easy it can be to make healthy food choices. She gives us easy recipes and tips for traveling, dealing with holiday parties and sticking to a meal plan. Susan makes it even easier! Gary is proof that this lifestyle and these food choices that Susan has carefully crafted work!
I don’t get the impression that Gary had someone to intervene like Susan. I think he did it on his own. But we have Susan, and she knows her stuff! I’m not saying it’s easy to drop half your body weight. I just think it’s easier than we think to incorporate healthy habits and to feel fantastic.
It truly is easier than we believe. It’s taking on the advice that Susan doles out weekly. It’s little bitty steps that add up to a lot. And when it adds up to a lot, we can really feel good.
See how you might use Gary as inspiration. See if you can live by his mantra of kicking out the unhealthy and embracing the healthy! Use Susan’s know how to do it! Check it out for yourself, how easy it is. And then see how amazing you feel!
