Running for Pleasure and without Pain

I recently discovered this great audio program – Chi Running – that promises to have you running with more speed and ease. Translation? Fewer injuries and more comfort! Even more enjoyment!

Walking through Whole Foods one day, I saw this audio program, and being a sucker for all things self-improvement, I bought Chi Running. As you may know, I am training for the NYC marathon which happens on November 7, and just wanted some lessons in running.

Danny Dreyer, a career runner who has done everything from a 5k to an ultra marathon of 100 miles (!!), walks you through posture, breathing and relaxations strategies that are based on Tai Chi. It all makes sense, and when I implemented his strategies, I definitely found myself running faster!

This program is fantastic for anyone who runs whether you are an avid runner who can’t wait for your next run or you are someone who just does it so that you can feel good at the very end of it.

The most interesting and marked improvement for me was this idea of really engaging my core to support the rest of my body, as well as sort of leaning forward like a kid runs so that the largest part of my body (my torso) was leading the way.

There are so many points that make such sense that it leaves you feeling like why hadn’t I considered this before.

There is some rumor that Danny Dreyer teaches classes on the upper west side of Manhattan. Guess where I will be in the fall!

This is great Karen, and it sounds like it is working. Chi means universal energy in chinese medicine, or to us, our life-force energy. I love that Danny has tapped into combining chi with running, can't wait to hear how it goes.
