Sing When You’re Winning

Their enthusiasm and talent was so formidable, they got applause and lots of dollars in the kitty. A ray of sunshine in the catacombs of NYC! It got me thinking about how song can really uplift! Even though my voice stinks, I like singing Seasons of Love from Rent and Abba’s Dancing Queen. But I definitely don’t do it enough. And anyway, if I don’t do it, I can listen to someone else who can! Singing – lifts your spirits, makes you breathe deeply (deep breathing is so good for us on so many levels) and causes you to smile! And it’s free.

I happen to love barbershop music AND Dancing Queen! Just saw Mamma Mia and loved it! I couldn’t agree more about the connection between singing and breathing and smiling and living! When we first moved into our home and all my music was stored in boxes in the garage, I would often find myself digging through those boxes for something to sing. Then I would find one song, and another, and another, and I’d stand in the garage and sing my heart out (great acoustics in there!) and before I knew it 45 minutes had passed and I had given my neighbors a mini concert of everything from show tunes to French art song to gospel hymns. Singing is the best medicine!
Umm, okay, this is where I have to out Sarona and tell the world that she has the most amazing and beautiful and phenomenal singing voice! That really was a concert for your neighbors, Sarona!! Wish I’d been there, front row and center! And you’re absolutely right. It is totally the best medicine!
