Slow Metabolism? This Could Be Why – Easy Detox For Your Liver!

Our liver is one of our biggest organs, its many functions include, aiding digestion, metabolizing fats, filtering blood used by the rest of the body, acting as a storage facility for amino acids, proteins, glycogen, vitamins, and many other nutrients. The liver is also how we begin to eliminate waste and harmful toxins, many of which are in our over processed fast-food and prescription medicine diet.
I had an anatomy teacher, Dr. Linda Burnham, (she gave Ms. Frizzle of Magic School Bus fame, a run for her money!) who told us to think of our liver as the trash can of the body. Everything needs to be working properly so that you can empty the trash. The colon is where you empty it in to. If the trash can gets clogged – filled with fats and toxins it can’t be emptied, and you can’t process and metabolize new food coming in. Every single thing gets processed through the liver, all food, beverage, toxins in our foods, drugs, everything.

Americans are now developing fatty livers. You can be thin and still have a fatty liver. We are being overwhelmed with fats and toxins. This results in weight gain, indigestion, constipation, gall stones, bloating, anger, depression, hypoglycemia, feeling cold, poor circulation, headaches, slow metabolism, fibromyalgia, fatigue.
Our body has innate wisdom and always wants to heal itself, always. Here are a few easy things you can do to help your liver cleanse.

LIVER CLEANSE 1:
This is the one that I did, guided by my healing and anatomy teacher, Dr. Linda Burnham. Thanks Linda!
-3-4 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
-2 tablespoons of maple syrup
-Cayenne pepper (less than 1/4 teaspoon)
-Sea salt*
-Purified water
*You can drink this 3-5 times per day. The morning mixture needs to have 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt in it.
Place ingredients in 6 oz. glass of water. For the very brave we added 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil! This eliminates gall stones in your body as well.
You can do this cleanse for 1-2 weeks. I would make it up the night before, place it in the fridge overnight, mix and drink down first thing – like a shot.
PLEASE use organic ingredients, do not substitute agave, honey or fake syrup for the syrup of it will not work. Use organic pure maple syrup, sold in health food stores.
Cleanse #1 helps dissolve plaque from the intestines and colon and helps to regulate the liver, and alkalize and purify the blood.
LIVER CLEANSE 2:
This cleanse is very gentle and from the Young Living Essential Oil Desk Reference I mention in our piece on essential oils.
-4 drops of Peppermint Oil
-4 drops of Lemon Oil
-4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Add to large bottle of water and drink throughout the day.
Both of these liver cleanses are fairly gentle and can be done easily. If your liver is very toxic you may feel a little worse before you feel better. The most common detox symptoms may be fatigue and anger. This is just your body detoxing. Once things get moving you will feel so much better. You will actually know it’s working just by how clear you get.
Cleanses should be taken seriously, please do not consume alcohol, caffeine or any drugs while cleansing your body.
