We talk a lot about fashion and beauty at VIB. Why? Because it’s fun! Because it was Susan’s calling prior to nutrition and wellness. We love fashion and beauty – always have. But what’s the most important reason that we do it? Because your own positive feelings about yourself is likely tied into what you look like and what you’re wearing.
But we want to be crystal clear! It doesn’t matter to us what our friends or clients – and therefore YOU – look like and whether you fit under the umbrella of “beauty” in the way mainstream media has defined it. Mainstream media actually has done millions of women such a disservice by deciding for us standards of beauty. So many of us feel that we fall short or don’t fit the mold. But some of the most gorgeous women we’ve come across radiate their beauty from the inside – their energy, their integrity, their genuineness and their warmth.

This is so spot on! Women do radiate beauty from the inside-out, I refer to that as our aura. Have you ever noticed how when you befriend someone and get to know them they just become more beautiful to us. Just the opposite is true too. We can see someone across the room and think “wow she (or he) is gorgeous” but if she (or he) isn’t kind, friendly or giving, that attractiveness factor definitely goes down.
I don’t like getting my photograph taken. I never really have. My mom came to visit after my son was born. My mom whipped out the camera early one morning, as all proud grandmothers do. I protested “Mom stop! I’ve been up most of the night, I haven’t showered, I’m in an old tshirt, etc…” Well I went to tend to my son when a few minutes later I hear “smile!”. Mom took the photo anyway. ‘Til this day, it is one of my most treasured photographs. I don’t notice my tiredness, my unwashed hair or the big grey tshirt. What do I notice? The absolute glow of love I have being with my son. That photo reminds me of what true beauty is – when we are filled with love.
