You CAN Ditch Your Old Food Habits, Lose Weight and Feel Great!

I am in the back of a taxi now headed to the airport in Sweden to head to London, the city in which Jay and I spent five years, each one transformative for different reasons.

I few weeks ago, as I was planning my trip, I coordinated schedules with my dearest friend in London, Karen. She laughed and asked whether this trip would be the same kind of gastronomic tour of my old haunts. I’d last visited with her in 2007, and over a few days, we hit all of my favorite places.

To give you an idea, here was a typical day:

* Breakfast at Pret a Manger where (surprisingly!) they have the world’s best croissants (okay, maybe not better than France but pretty close!). Here, I would have two croissants and a hot chocolate.
* Snack at Patridge’s, the little market across the road from my old flat, where I’d get those delicious chocolate biscuits.
* Lunch at the Harrod’s pizza bar. Need I say more? Oh and the other option was Royal China where they serve London’s best dim sum. Then, definitely something sweet.
* Dinner at one of two places. Zuma, of course, is my favorite, where we would regularly partake in the decadent lemon sole (deep fried with a deep fried basket to boot) or Scalini where I would inevitably have some pounded veal milanese. Oh and dessert. For sure.

This was how I used to eat. A mere few years ago. By 2007, I’d already had my nutritional awakening but this was a trip I’d decided to eat with reckless abandon. Up until then, I had No concern about where food came from or how it was all sitting in my stomach. And no idea why my attitude was a good bit shy of positive. Or why I couldn’t seem to lose extra chub despite hours of exercise every week. Now I know.

The next few days will be a different restaurant tour, and in fact, I’ve brought some foods with me, particularly for the pre-workout breakfast so that I don’t need to rely on hotel breakfast hours or offerings.

So I just thought I’d share my old ways so that you might see that it is totally possible to overhaul your nutrition approach. I can’t believe some of the stuff I used to eat daily and now understand why I was such a slave to sugar. Slave.

YOU can overhaul for sure! If I can do it, you can too.
